Sparkles was inspired by stories of racism during the COVID-19 lockdown and provides a glimpse of what some Asian-Canadians have recently experienced in Canada.

“During and after the lockdown, some of my Asian-Canadian friends began telling me of their experiences with people who were openly hostile towards them and telling them to ‘go back home,’” said Darryl Saves Lives band member Nick Lai. “Their stories were similar to what I’ve experienced and I decided to get these feelings off my chest.”
